Central Areas first Middlesex Champions

North Middlesex cc Under 15s have become the Central Areas first County Champions. In the semi final they cruised to an 8 wicket victory over Ashford who were bowled out for 79. Connor Nurse with his left arm orthodox spin was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets for 12 off his 3 overs. Jonathan Bennett, Charlie Yorke-Starkey & Zulfiqar Azom all picked up 2 wickets each. Keeper Charlie Hierons was involved in 5 of the wickets taken. In the run chase, Connor Nurse was again outstanding scoring 43 runs off just 32 balls to guide North midd to victory in the 11th over.

The final was against Bessborough who had knocked up 196 in their semi final win over Uxbridge. North Midd won the toss & chose to bowl. Oliver Turrell bowled steadily with 13 dot balls in his 3 overs to restrict the scoring. The first wicket fell to a run out and wickets 2 & 3 to Kyle Pittman. However, the dangerous Charlie Thurston was still at the crease scoring steadily when he could get the strike. Charlie Yorke-Starkey bowled tightly but without success & it wasn't until skipper Zulfiqar Azom introduced himself to the bowling attack that Thurston (45) was removed when a spiralling catch was taken by Arjun Gole. Nurse & Azom cleaned up the Bessborough tail with the last 6 wickets falling for just 27 runs. 103 all out.  Bessborough took their first wicket, removing Nurse when the score was on 24, but Azom & Yorke-Starkey kept scoring consistently keeping up with the run rate & only lost one more wicket before Yorke-Starkey hit the winning runs with 4 balls to spare.

Some fantastic fielding from the North Middlesex side plus the old "catches win matches" motto, 13 catches taken in all, enabled them to bowl both sides out in less than the allotted 20 overs.

Congratulations to the boys in the North Middlesex Under 15s.
